As you weave the carpet of your life – do you follow outmoded habitual patterns or are you creative? Do you create a work of art or do you put things together haphazardly?
As you admire the beauty of this Persian carpet – its harmony, balance, and elegance – do you want your life to be as beautiful and precious as this carpet? Or don’t you care if your life looks like a faded doormat?
The fact that you are born on planet earth as a human being is already the basic ingredient for weaving the carpet of your life. It is the” loom” which gives your life the necessary basic structure. Of course, you can forgo any deliberate weaving of the carpet of your life and let the media or sad memories drive you on.
But if you want to weave a beautiful carpet of your life then you have to decide if you want to weave it with durable but plain sisal, with torn rags, or colorful wool or even silk. You have to choose the colors you like and then do the weaving itself.
How do you do this conscious weaving the carpet of your life?
First of all, you choose how pleasant you want your life to be. You choose the thoughts you dwell on, the emotions you cherish.
As a healer and hypnotherapist I have often heard the objection: “How can I choose to live a pleasant life? Once I tell you how horrible my childhood has been, you understand that it is impossible for me to dwell on pleasant thoughts or enjoy happy emotions! My life has been too grim.”
Then I remind them that their life is not THEN but NOW. NOW they can make good choices. Now YOU can make good choices.
How? Open your heart. Begin to like yourself and your life. Once you can do that, begin to appreciate yourself and your life. Once you are good at appreciating, you can begin to love yourself and your life. And others, of course! When you truly love yourself, you love others as well. It’s the same powerful energy.
Loving yourself and your life is a great art-form, the greatest of all art-forms. Thus you weave a beautiful carpet of your life.
